On June 18, 2026, the District of Arizona and the Tucson FBA hosted a discussion from Senior District Court Judge Raner C. Collins on growing up in Arkansas after the landmark case that ended segregation in public schools, Brown v. Board of Education. Judge Collins earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona College Of Law in 1975, one of two African American students in his class. In September 2013 Judge Collins became Chief Judge of the District Court for the District
of Arizona, the first African American to serve in that position. He assumed senior status in March 2019 and continues to hear cases. Thank you to the District of Arizona for organizing this event which had over 100 attendees.
